New Pressure Relief Product Protects
in Toxic and Corrosive Environments

– Continental Disc Corporation, an industry leader in rupture disc design, innovation, and manufacturing technology, announces the newest addition to its pressure relief product line: the APX rupture disc.

A reverse-acting rupture disc ideal for liquid, gas, or vapor applications, the APX rupture disc specializes in toxic and corrosive environments where super alloys and other exotic materials are often required. “The new APX rupture disc continues the legacy performance that our customers have come to expect from our flagship HPX® rupture disc product family, including low Kr factors and high cycling as well as reliable performance specifically designed for hazardous processes,”
states Trey Rothenberger, Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing at Continental Disc Corporation.

“In addition, the APX covers a broad range of material options to meet a spectrum of applications.”

APX Rupture disc

Reliable performance combines with materials durable to challenging process media

Unique in its form, the APX integrates the arcuate into the rupture disc, resulting in a streamlined weld-free assembly that allows customers the autonomy to select from an extensive variety of material options. From super duplex and super austenitic stainless steels to Alloy C22 and other materials, customers can pick and choose the APX holder’s construction to best meet their needs.

The APX is available with insert, pre-torqued, or double disc holder assemblies to assure proper orientation while keeping the system leak-free. The addition of the APX rupture disc expands Continental Disc’s broad product offering of overpressure safety solutions for the chemical processing, industrial gases, oil and gas, and transportation industries.

HPX RUPTURE DISC FAMILY

Your most versatile, cost-effective weapon in the battle against overpressure.
Performance in excess of 5 million cycles at 95% burst pressure.

High-performance operating capabilities, a wide range of burst ratings and durable materials make HPX rupture discs ideal for facilities where operating conditions and media change frequently, batch processing runs and similar operations.

Additionally, the versatility of the HPX Family makes future modifications easier
to incorporate in change-control procedures, no piping modifications necessary.

FORWARD-ACTING RUPTURE DISCS

No matter the process material, pressure level or environmental
requirement, we’ll produce the perfect rupture disc for your application.

The Standard rupture disc’s full-opening design responds within milliseconds to potentially
damaging overpressure accumulation, making it ideal for a variety of protection applications.

It can be customized with different seating configurations, protective liners, rings, gaskets and more.

REVERSE-ACTING RUPTURE DISCS

Advanced manufacturing and flawless engineering come together to make our most reliable,
accurate rupture discs. That’s why we keep a 0% manufacturing range as a standard.

After carefully designing and engineering our reverse acting rupture discs, we craft them with high-tech
manufacturing tools – fine tuned score blades ensure precise scores, and clean consistent ruptures on every disc.

CDC do the following testing as standard

    • Qualifying Burst Test
    • Liquid lot test
    • Fragmentation Test
    • Safety Ratio Test
    • Cycling Test (When specified by the customer)
    • Dye Penetrant Test
    • Proof Pressure test

SPECIALIZED RUPTURE DISCS

If we don’t already have the perfect solution
for
your application, we’ll engineer and manufacture it.

A double-acting rupture disc with a girdle and knife-blade assembly on one side, and perforations and a pre-cut section on the other.

Well Activation and Safety Protection Rupture Discs, a line of rupture discs engineered to replace shear pins and other moving devices to save time and labor on the drill site.

Another example is WMP Welded Muffled Plug Rupture Disc Assembly, which is a solid-metal, tension-acting rupture disc that screws directly into a threaded port, providing precise overpressure protection with simple installation.

BURST DISC INDICATORS

All the information you need – without leaving the control room.
With highly valuable equipment, employee safety and profit margins on the line,
there’s little room for wasted time and extra steps.

So, we developed a line of rupture disc indicators to work seamlessly with our overpressure relief products.

RUPTURE DISC HOLDERS

As standard we have 4 different types, standard insert, reduced height insert, double disc insert or pre-torqued insert.

Pre-torqued holders allow replacement discs to be installed in the workshop and they allow the use of much lower flange bolt torques.

RUPTURE DISC ACCESSORIES

Enviro Guard Cover

Protect piping, rupture discs and safety relief valves from rain, insects, birds
and other unwanted foreign material with ENVIRO GUARD pipe end covers.

Fabricated from a tough PTFE-impregnated fiberglass material, ENVIRO GUARD pipe
end covers easily endure harsh environments and temperatures up to 500°F (260°C).

Heat Shield

Where process temperatures climb to levels your rupture disc or its
lining material are unable to withstand, you need a CDC heat shield.

The shield functions as a barrier, reducing your rupture disc’s exposure to high temperatures.
It restricts the continuous flow of high-temperature gases or vapors, allowing the piping between the shield and rupture disc to act as a heat sink.

ENVIRO GUARD Pipe End Covers,
Heat Shield, excess flow valve and tel-tale assembly with gauge is some of the accessories we can provide.
